TCL has expanded its NxtPaper lineup with the launch of two new tablets and the Kids Watch K5 at IFA, adding new devices to its growing portfolio of consumer technology products.
The company’s latest tablets continue to focus on the NxtPaper display technology, although they use LCD panels rather than the AMOLED-based NxtPaper screens introduced with TCL’s new P80 smartphone series.
One of the newly introduced devices is the TCL Tab A1 NxtPaper, which combines a large display with hardware aimed at everyday entertainment, productivity and family use.
The tablet features an 11-inch NxtPaper LCD with a 2.1K resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The combination is designed to provide sharper visuals and smoother scrolling across compatible content and applications.
TCL will sell the Tab A1 NxtPaper as a standalone device, while customers will also have the option of purchasing it with a Kids Proof case designed for greater protection.
The protective case includes additional padding to help guard the tablet against everyday bumps and drops. It also provides dedicated space for a small stylus.
Another practical feature of the Kids Proof case is its integrated carrying handle. The handle can also function as a kickstand, allowing the tablet to be positioned for hands-free viewing.
Under the hood, the TCL Tab A1 NxtPaper is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G100 chipset. The tablet comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The device is built with a metal unibody design and measures only 6.2mm in thickness. At 426 grams, TCL has also focused on keeping the tablet relatively light for an 11-inch device.
Powering the tablet is an 8,000mAh battery, giving users a substantial battery capacity for mobile entertainment, browsing and other everyday tasks.
The inclusion of the NxtPaper display technology remains one of the tablet’s main selling points. TCL has developed NxtPaper screens with a focus on providing a more comfortable viewing experience compared with conventional glossy displays.
The Tab A1 NxtPaper also gives TCL another option for consumers who want a larger-screen device without moving to a premium flagship tablet category.
The company is positioning the Kids Proof case bundle as a family-friendly option, particularly for users who want additional protection while giving children access to a tablet.
The TCL Tab A1 NxtPaper with the Kids Proof case is expected to cost approximately $313.
TCL’s latest IFA announcements show the company continuing to expand the NxtPaper ecosystem across different categories, from smartphones and tablets to devices designed specifically for younger users.
The introduction of the Kids Watch K5 alongside the new tablets also highlights TCL’s broader focus on connected devices and family-oriented technology.
