YouTube Introduces Option to Disable Shorts on Mobile Devices

In a major update aimed at improving user experience, YouTube has started rolling out a new feature that allows users to completely turn off Shorts on mobile devices. The update is being introduced for both iOS and Android users, offering more control over content consumption.

This latest addition builds on YouTube’s existing digital wellbeing tools, which previously allowed users to set daily time limits for Shorts viewing. With the new feature, users can now opt for a “0-minute” limit, effectively disabling Shorts from their feed altogether.

The move comes in response to growing user feedback حول excessive short-form content consumption. While Shorts has been a key competitor to platforms like TikTok, not all users prefer the endless scroll experience associated with short videos.

By introducing this option, YouTube is giving users greater flexibility to tailor their app experience. Those who prefer long-form videos, educational content, or specific subscriptions can now avoid distractions caused by short-form clips.

The update is also seen as part of a broader trend in the tech industry, where companies are focusing more on user control and digital wellbeing. Giving users the ability to limit or eliminate certain features aligns with increasing awareness حول screen time and online habits.

Although the feature is rolling out gradually, it is expected to become widely available in the coming weeks. Users can access the option through the app’s settings, where time management tools are located.

This change reflects YouTube’s evolving strategy to balance engagement with user satisfaction. By allowing users to disable Shorts entirely, the platform is acknowledging that a one-size-fits-all approach no longer works in today’s diverse digital landscape.
