Nothing has officially started rolling out Nothing OS 4.0, its major Android 16–based update, marking the company’s next big step toward a more refined software ecosystem. The rollout begins with the latest flagship, the Nothing Phone (3), and will expand to other Nothing and CMF devices in the coming weeks. The brand has not published a confirmed timeline for older models, but users can expect a gradual release once initial feedback stabilizes.
The update follows several weeks of beta testing, during which users tested new custom features, UI improvements, and Android 16 optimizations. With Nothing OS 4.0 now moving to stable release, Phone (3) owners are the first to experience the complete feature set.
One of the biggest additions is deeper integration with the Flip to Glyph feature. Nothing has refined how gestures interact with the LED glyph interface, offering faster response times and more precise motion detection. These improvements are designed to make glyph interactions feel more intuitive, especially in everyday usage scenarios like call silencing and notification control.
Pocket Mode also gets a noticeable upgrade. Nothing says the revised version reduces accidental touches more effectively, relying on improved sensors and updated detection logic. Users should find fewer unexpected actions when the device is in tight spaces such as pockets or bags.
Nothing OS 4.0 also introduces two new Glyph Toys, Hourglass and Lunar Cycle. These playful animations extend Nothing’s focus on blending utility with visual identity, giving users more options to personalize the back LEDs of the Phone (3). While primarily aesthetic, the new toys contribute to the brand’s distinctive design philosophy.
The camera experience also receives a small but meaningful improvement. The Mirror Selfie feature now supports saving both the mirrored and original versions of a selfie. This allows users to keep an accurate reference image while still sharing the mirrored version, which often appears more natural on social media platforms.
As the update progresses to other models, Nothing aims to unify its software lineup under Android 16 while maintaining its signature minimalist visual style. For now, Phone (3) users are the first to explore the new capabilities, but all Nothing and CMF device owners can expect a similar experience once OS 4.0 becomes widely available.
