Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, has begun a three-day official visit to the United Kingdom aimed at enhancing bilateral ties and forging stronger cooperation in emerging fields. The visit runs from August 17 to 19 and features a packed agenda of high-level engagements.
According to the Foreign Office, Dar will hold meetings with UK Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, Hamish Falconer, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Pakistan, and Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey. These discussions are expected to centre on expanding Pakistan-UK collaboration in trade, technology, and strategic cooperation.
Dar is also scheduled to meet Lord Wajid Khan and interact with British parliamentarians, Kashmiri leaders, and members of the British-Pakistani community. His interactions will highlight diaspora concerns and explore ways to strengthen people-to-people connections.
A central focus of the visit is innovation and entrepreneurship. Dar will emphasize areas such as digital technology, artificial intelligence, and start-up ecosystems as key drivers of future cooperation.
At the Pakistan High Commission in London, Dar will inaugurate initiatives designed to assist overseas Pakistanis. These include a Punjab Land Record Authority pilot project, enabling diaspora members to resolve land documentation issues remotely, and a new IMPASS one-window operation to streamline consular services.
The Foreign Office stated that these efforts reflect Pakistan’s broader commitment to inclusive diplomacy and socio-economic development. The visit also underscores the government’s aim of positioning Pakistan as a forward-looking partner in global innovation and trade.
